The event

Shaping the City: A Forum for Sustainable Cities and Communities is a conference organized by the European Cultural Center in the context of the biennial architecture exhibition entitled Time Space Existence.

After the success of the first edition of Shaping the City in 2018, the second edition of the forum will take place on 15 and 16 October 2021 in the iconic Palazzo Michiel, Venice, and online on the ECC Italy YouTube channel. Shaping the City addresses key issues of contemporary urbanization, presented and discussed through the different perspectives of a group of academics, urban planners, designers, architects, politicians and scholars.

Through a series of presentations and panel discussions, the conference addresses the fundamental issues that are shaping our cities today. The conversations are structured to portray a range of international perspectives regarding urban planning and architecture, exploring four main sub-themes:

• Design for the Community

• New Materials in Architecture

• Climate Change and Resilient Cities • Rethinking the City
