Professor Petra Kempf of the University of Washington in St. Louis presents, for the second time in Venice , the performance GOT UMBRELLA . By playing different roles and wearing different masks, the inhabitants of the city reconfigure the condition in which they live and interact. As individuals interact with each other, new connections arise while others fade, creating common ground informed and imagined by many people at a time. In this context, city dwellers create provisional counter-configurations through which different social constellations emerge. Located in a field of changing relationships, emergent configurations are not just a form or product through which social interactions take place, but a perpetual generator of emergent configurations - configurations that are also in conflict.
