A masterpiece for Venice is the new initiative launched by the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice, in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo as Main Partner, which will see some works of extraordinary quality of the Venetian Renaissance exhibited in the rooms of the museum, in rotation in the coming months. , coming from major international museums. These are exceptional loans, paintings that have only rarely left their original exhibition venue.
The project was born from the museum's intention to recover and renew international relations in a city so strongly affected, from the point of view of foreign visitors, by the recent calamities, in particular the high water of 12 November and then the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic. The intent is to reaffirm that international breath and that propensity for dialogue, which has always characterized the social and cultural dimension of Venice.
In recent months the museum has worked to build synergies with other prestigious international institutions, in order to offer visitors new insights into reading and knowledge. The paintings on display are linked to the Venetian Renaissance pictorial tradition and fit perfectly within the museum context of the Galleries, weaving a web of dialogues, references and comparisons with the works of the permanent collection and with the lagoon city.
