From 5 May to 31 July 2022
On Friday 6 May at 11.00 at Villa Monastero in Varenna the exhibition Lariane Trame - Trame dell'arte e moda will be inaugurated.
This is a widespread exhibition at Villa Carlotta in Tremezzina, Villa Melzi d'Eril Gardens in Bellagio and Villa Monastero in Varenna, thanks to the fruitful collaboration between the Larian villas, which in the past has seen the creation of joint initiatives, such as Camelie sul Lario, which opens the spring season every year.
The exhibition celebrates the art treasures of the villas and the Como textile heritage thanks to the creations of the young designers of the Paolo Carcano Setificio Institute and the contribution of the Setificio Foundation in order to promote the values of Como Creative City. The students were inspired by the villas collections to create silk scarves and scarves with original decorative motifs, which creatively revisit the ornamental, sculptural, architectural and floral elements of the homes. Each villa thus sees personalized, with great imagination and remarkable technical expertise, the elements that inspired the students.
Design and development of the project are by Sara Ielpo, who dedicated the second level diploma thesis at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, School of Creative Communication for cultural heritage to this theme. The creations of the students of the Istituto Setificio Paolo Carcano, declined in fashion objects, offer visitors an unprecedented vision of the indissoluble link between artistic heritage and textile tradition of the Como area.
The artifacts on display were created thanks to the help of the professors Flavia Proserpio, coordinator of the design of the entire collection, Simona Borensztajn, Antonella Anghinolfi, Annalisa Ligorio and the Setificio Foundation, which has always supported the activities promoted by the Paolo Carcano Institute, with the President Graziano Brenna and the Vice President Lorenzo Frigerio, owner of Tessile srl to whom we owe the realization of the objects on display, who have given full support to the proposal with a view to promoting and rediscovering the territory through the cultural heritage and traditions. The project is sponsored by the Alessandro Volta Foundation of Como, Como Creative City Unesco and ReteTAM - National network of textile, clothing and fashion institutes.
