The exhibition conceived for the PAV is the third appointment after the garden of weeds and earth created for the interior of the Leo Xu Projects in Shanghai in 2015 and the work on ferns for TheCube Project Space in Taipei in 2016. In this series of exhibition episodes, Zheng Bo investigates the relationship (far beyond metaphor) between the uncontrollable nature of spontaneous political movements and the infesting and inestirpable power of so-called parasitic plants.
Weed Party III is the first Italian solo show by Chinese artist Zheng Bo, a careful investigator of the relationship between nature, society and politics. Frequent use of wild plants - conventionally considered weeds - connects his work to political metaphors in which what is unwelcome becomes a substantial ecological force to spread cultures of resistance and resilience.
