From 10 April to 14 July 2019
Curated by Andrea Busto
Made in collaboration with the Giorgio Cini Foundation, Venice and Photo & Contemporary Gallery, Turin
The Ettore Fico Museum is pleased to present an exhibition dedicated to the great photographer Gabriele Basilico .
The central body of the exhibition is a section commissioned to the photographer by the Giorgio Cini Foundation of Venice in 2010, on the occasion of the retrospective dedicated to the great Venetian engraver: "The arts of Piranesi. Architect, engraver, antiquarian, landscape painter, designer" by Michele De Lucchi, Adam Lowe and Giuseppe Pavanello.
On that occasion, the Cini Foundation asked the artist to portray the "eternal city" and other Italian places from the same angles as the Piranesian engravings.
The result was summarized in 32 shots later compared with Piranesi 's 32 engravings .
A vast selection of over fifty photographs, of different formats, completes the exhibition which, for the first time in Italy, examines the urban and conceptual poetics of the great photographer through the images taken in his countless travels.
