From 12 April to 1 September 2024
Accepted the Artsupp Card
From 12 April the MAO will reveal to the public the restaging of Tradu/izioni d'Eurasia , the exhibition which tells, through a renewed and timely selection of ceramics, fabrics, metals and manuscripts, the fascinating story of the journey of art and culture , traditions, language from East Asia to the Mediterranean basin (and back).
Like Marco Polo, for thousands of years, along the caravan routes that linked Asia and Europe, human beings moved. Together with them, ideas, motifs, knowledge, an entire migrant heritage - material and immaterial - have travelled, which, in every place, has been able to take root through a constant process of adaptation. Tradu/izioni d'Eurasia tells this story, a story made up of stories, grafts, contaminations and betrayals : it is our story, a narrative that unites distant corners of the Eurasian continent more than we are willing to believe and which demonstrates how the concept of border has always been an illusory and arbitrary idea. The story proceeds through precise thematic nuclei alternating with extensive forays into the contemporary and united by a new version of Distilled, a site-specific sound installation by Chiara Lee and Freddie Murphy which, from October 2023, has been developed and enriched with new elements.
Among the most important new features of the reload are numerous prestigious loans from the Uffizi , the Laurentian Library of Florence, the Civic Museums of Bologna , the Duca di Martina Ceramics Museum of Naples, and the site-specific works of the Franco-Moroccan artist Yto Barrada . a structured public program of conferences, musical events, screenings and performances enriches the exhibition, offering the public opportunities for reflection and new readings of the complex and fascinating history that has unfolded on the Silk Roads for centuries.
