On Friday 7 May , from 4 pm to 7 pm, the PAV Parco Arte Vivente presents the exhibition SUSTAINING ASSEMBLY. Artistic Practices for an Ecological Transition from Below, curated by Piero Gilardi and Marco Scotini . A project that deals with highly topical issues, dear to the contemporary art center that since 2008 has been dealing with the relationship between culture and sustainability , such as political ecology, the struggle for the decolonization of knowledge and collective memories, the sustainable growth of world, the development of new energy sources, reforestation projects and environmental protection.
The progress of the environmental crisis, which not even the lockdown has managed to slow down, also requires culture to take the field and act for concrete change. And it is in line with these urgencies that the PAV presents with SUSTAINING ASSEMBLY an exhibition that not only denounces the current crisis, but proposes possible solutions.
The project already reveals in its title, with the word assembly, the reference to the union of all those actors who collaborate with the aim of achieving planetary eco-sustainability, making visible the integration and interaction, already existing, between different sustainable practices such as the research and development of non-fossil energy sources, circular economy practices, the spread of bio-agriculture, the regeneration of urban spaces.
SUSTAINING ASSEMBLY, through the work of artists who have been able to activate projects all over the planet, offers the public a roundup of solutions to the current crisis, such as the Inland collective project presented by Fernando Garcia-Dory, or Free Home University by Alessandra Pomarico. . Zheng Bo, Mao Chenyu recount experiences of the Asian community, while Australian ecological issues and indigenous rights are at the heart of Karrabing Film Collective's work. The Australian Yasmin Smith proposes a project dedicated to the Terra dei Fuochi, Michele Guido and the historic artist Maria Thereza Alves reflect on some sustainable practices. The duo made up of Bouba Toure and Raphaël Grisey instead presents a research on the African experience of Somankidi Coura. Furthermore, during the exhibition, an unprecedented performative action by Piero Gilardi will be presented
