Accepted the Artsupp Card
Curated by Leonardo Bigazzi
The exhibition by Petrit Halilaj, winner for the art sector of the second edition of the Mario Merz Prize, represents the culminating and final moment of a complex project, curated by Leonardo Bigazzi, and divided into three different stages. The first and fundamental chapter is the performance, the largest public art intervention ever made by Petrit Halilaj, held on 7 July 2018 at the ruins of the House of Culture in Runik (Kosovo). This was followed by the exhibition set up from 20 July to 19 August 2018 at the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern (Switzerland), a point of contact between Shkrepëtima and the research previously developed by the artist with the RU series of works.
Finally, the project arrives in Turin, returned in the form of an important and previously unseen final exhibition. The Shkrepëtima project continues the artist's investigation into the historical roots of the Kosovar town where he grew up, reflecting on the potential of art and the value of memory. By intervening directly on reality, Halilaj intends to modify the processes of construction of the collective history of her community, bringing it closer to its origins and questioning some models that still regulate its social structure today.
