From November 3, 2023 to February 11, 2024 , METRONOME , the first solo exhibition in an Italian institution by the American artist Sarah Sze (Boston, 1969), curated by Samuele Piazza , Senior Curator OGR. The exhibition presents a new work co-commissioned and co-produced by the institution together with Artangel - London and ARoS - Aarhus Art Museum and the support of Victoria Miro .
The installation conveys all the complexity of the artist's poetics who, since the end of the nineties, has developed a visual language capable of challenging the static nature of sculpture and representing the explosion of information that characterizes our present.
Sze's work appears to navigate and reshape the incessant information flow of contemporary life through constellations of objects and proliferation of images. Sze reworks the mass of visual narratives that we store every day, from magazines, television, smartphones, cyberspace and the real world; his practice evokes the generative process of image creation in a world where consumption and production are increasingly interdependent and where, in a continuum, sculpture gives rise to images and images to sculpture.
