Nature cultures . Art and Nature from Arte Povera to today. From the Collections of the CRT Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art to the Castello di Rivoli: a redefinition of the relationship with the world around us and its evolution characterizes the exhibition that will open on April 29, 2022 in Binari 1 and 2 of OGR Torino.

At the same time as other international artists active since the end of the sixties of the last century, the artists of Arte Povera , many of them from Turin, investigated the reality of physical experience and channeled into their works the invisible energy that flows in the world. They used elementary techniques and common materials to overcome the separation between nature and artifice and make a bodily awareness of the sensible world perceptible. With their works, they anticipated contemporary ecology . Skeptical of accelerating economic development, they were aware of the need for a new environmental balance . They were vital, optimistic, pacifist and anarchist, and they transformed the very definition of art through the free intersection of painting, sculpture, performance, film and photography into the most open notion of the installation that the public could walk through .

Organized in collaboration between OGR Torino and Castello di Rivoli , the exhibition presents works for the most part belonging to the collections of the Foundation for Modern and Contemporary Art CRT . Thanks to the synergy between the Museum and the Foundation, Turin and Piedmont have been able to build in just over twenty years one of the most significant collections of contemporary art in the world, shared publicly.

On display will be works by Giovanni Anselmo, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Piero Gilardi, Amar Kanwar, Jannis Kounellis, Agnieszka Kurant, Richard Long, Mario Merz, Marisa Merz, Giuseppe Penone, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Gilberto Zorio .

Summer closure from Monday 1st to Wednesday 31st August. The exhibition will reopen on Thursday 1st September.
