VideotecaGAM celebrates twenty years since the birth of the artist's video collection. The GAM - Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Turin is happy, on the occasion of this anniversary, to announce the collaboration with the Historical Archive of the Venice Biennale for the realization of a cycle of six exhibitions, curated by Elena Volpato , which will take place over two years.

The six exhibitions, hosted in the spaces of the VideotecaGAM, will be dedicated to Gino De Dominicis, Giuseppe Chiari, Alighiero Boetti, Claudio Parmiggiani, Vincenzo Agnetti and Jannis Kounellis.

They will present videos from the Biennale's Historical Archives in dialogue with works and materials from the GAM collections. The six exhibitions represent a completion of the exhibition program started in 2014, designed to tell the story of the Italian video artist between the 1960s and 1970s. That season, of exceptional importance, represents the primary collection nucleus of the VideotecaGAM and a publication will be dedicated to it, coming out next year, accompanied by materials and testimonies collected from the words of its protagonists in the various exhibitions held up to now.

The first exhibition, a tribute to Gino De Dominicis, presents Videotape , 1974, from the collection of the Historical Archives of the Biennale, compared with Tentativo di volo, 1969, an example from the GAM collection. The two works show the centrality of the temporal dimension in the artist's work and deal with the theme of eternity in a different way.
