The Ecologies of Loss exhibition, designed specifically for the PAV spaces and in concert with the mission of the center, focusing on the policies relating to rivers in the Indian context, will investigate the conflicting relationships between global capitalism and the protection of ecosystems and the quality of life of the strata less affluent than the urban population.
For decades, Ravi Agarwal has led an inter-disciplinary practice as an artist, photographer, environmental activist, writer and curator. His work explores key issues of the contemporary era such as ecology, society, urban space and the logic of the capitalist economy. For over four decades, photography has been the medium of choice for Ravi Agarwal's work, which has since grown to a wider dimension thanks to the inclusion of video, public art, installations and, recently, print. His main projects span several years and are often accompanied by the publication of writings and diaries.
