On the occasion of Fo.To - Fotografi in Turin , Fondazione 107 is pleased to announce "ECLIPSE", an exhibition dedicated to Almagul Menlibayeva.

Born in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 1969, Menlibayeva is a photographer and video artist. His works have been exhibited at the Sidney Biennale, the Venice Biennale, the Moscow Biennale. Among the solo exhibitions dedicated to her recently we remember "Transformation" (Grand Palais, Paris, 2016-17), "My Silk Road to You" (Lexing Art, Miami, 2016), "Transoxiana Dreams" (Ludwig Forum, Aachen 2014 ).

Focused on geopolitical, postcolonial issues and on social transformations in post-Soviet Central Asia, the artist's research is also full of eroticism: the protagonist of his shots is the steppe, a geographical and above all symbolic place where absolute freedom and natural instincts of adaptation are reveal and vent. The wolfwomen she plays are capable of evoking a mysterious source of life from the center of the Earth, a primordial force that awakens greedy survival instincts.
