From matter to work is an exhibition of the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts that will leave its mark for various reasons. The idea of celebrating three Academy Masters such as Ermanno Barovero, Raffaele Mondazzi and Francesco Preverino at the end of their teaching at the Academy was born a few years ago. Now the exhibition project has been inaugurated almost a year after the tragic death of Raffaele Mondazzi, who was a pillar of the Albertina for decades. With the help of his family it was possible to continue the project in the path that Mondazzi himself had traced with Barovero and Preverino. Thanks to the skilful curatorship of Pino Mantovani, an installation of extraordinary strength and elegance took shape, the first to bring painting and sculpture to the restored hypogeum of the Rotonda di Talucchi. The staging of the works, some of considerable size, took place between the red brick vaults and the impressive circular structures that Talucchi designed in the 1820s and which are now renovated thanks to the restoration project coordinated by the City of Turin and funded by the Compagnia di San Paolo.
