From 6 December to 9 March 2025
The exhibition AMAZING. 80 (and more) years of Marvel superheroes, one of the most important publishing houses in the world, founded in 1939 by Martin Goodman. The exhibition focuses on the artistic journey, from the forties to 2023, that gave life to unforgettable characters such as Spider-Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, the Fantastic Four, and many others, under the guidance of innovative writers and the skilled pencil of great masters.
Original panels, posters, memorabilia, merchandise, toys, and scenic enlargements dedicated to the most memorable comic book panels make up the visual narrative of an ongoing evolution, which has led Marvel's creations to inspire hugely successful films and TV series, supported by explanatory panels and timelines that summarize, decade by decade, the main milestones of its history.
A strong point of AMAZING. 80 (and more) years of Marvel superheroes is the presence of over 80 original panels by authors such as Jack Kirby, John Romita Jr., Steve Ditko, Alex Ross, John Buscema, and many others, selected from the various decades of publication to tell the changes experienced by the publishing house, the impact it had on the superhero comic genre, and the artistic and narrative style that Marvel has been able to create.
Alongside the panels, including a drawing of Spider-Man also featured in the 2018 animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, there are vintage posters and posters, including the very first ones ever dedicated to Marvel superheroes, as well as toys, board games, notebooks, stickers, trading cards, and much more, starting from the earliest items produced in the sixties up to the nineties, but also gadgets that were given to members of the official Marvel fan club in the sixties and MEGO action figures that arrived in Italy between the seventies and eighties.
Finally, a selection of original American comics, all with CGC certification, attesting to the condition of the publications, including the extremely rare issue 15 of the Amazing Fantasy series, the first appearance of Spider-Man, autographed by its legendary creator Stan Lee.
