Twenty photographic works placed along the visit route are the project that the English photographer of Turkish origin, Güler Ates, has created for the MAO, within a didactic proposal formulated by the Companies and the Partner Entities of the Council for the Enhancement of Goods Artistic and Cultural Turin for the students of the Albertina Academy, with the Royal Academy of Schools in London, where the artist is Tutor.
The exhibition is part of Art Site Fest 2019, a festival dedicated to contemporary arts in places of culture in eleven prestigious venues; in addition to the Museum of Oriental Art: Reggia di Venaria, Stupinigi Hunting Palace, Palazzo Madama, Chiablese Palace, Royal Castle of Govone, Moncalieri Castle, Cavour Castle of Santena, Biandrate Palace-Royal Mutual Historical Museum, Lavazza Museum, Casa Martini.
The event, directed by Domenico Maria Papa, arrives this year at its fifth edition and proposes a journey through the languages of modernity - sculpture, painting, theater, music, literature - in dialogue with some of the most beautiful residences in Piedmont.
The photographic works of Güler Ates resume authentic performances between dance and theater, contextualized for the environments in which they take place. The models, whose appearance is barely visible, are dressed with colorful and often precious fabrics and represent metaphysical presences that move within historical environments, restoring their spirit.
