The CRAC Puglia, Contemporary Art Research Center of the Rocco Spani Foundation onlus, dedicates to Pier Paolo Pasolini, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth, the contemporary art exhibition "Pier Paolo Pasolini: present time - Five presences in contemporary art" to reflect and further explore - through the visual arts - the work of the great intellectual, scholar and director, "heretic and corsair", who has profoundly marked the social, cultural and political landscape of our country since the second half of the twentieth century.
The exhibition project will be inaugurated on 28 December 2022, at 18.00, in the project room of the CRAC Puglia, in the ancient heart of the old city. Pasolini's social and political message - which we remember in an interview with Furio Colombo in 1975 for Corriere della Sera, shortly before his brutal murder - is summed up in his succinct sentence: "We are all in danger". Words that are extremely current today. And this is also a thematic aspect of the exhibition.
Pasolini visited Puglia several times, establishing a deep bond with the city of Taranto. In 1951 he stopped in the city of two seas on the occasion of his participation with the story "Terracina" in the prestigious Taranto Award, chaired by Giuseppe Ungaretti. In July 1959, however, he returned to Taranto and during his stay on the Apulian coast he wrote a series of articles entitled "The long sandy road" for the magazine "Successo".
