The show

Saturday 1 October at 6.00 pm at the CRAC Puglia ( Center for Contemporary Art Research ) of the Rocco Spani Onlus Foundation will take place the inauguration of the retrospective exhibition of the famous master Ettore Sordini (Milan, 1934 - Fossombrone, 2012) curated by Roberto Lacarbonara and Alberto Mazzacchera.

The exhibition is promoted and organized by CRAC Puglia , together with the Roberto Peccolo Gallery in Livorno, at the Ettore Sordini Historical Archive in Cagli (PU), sponsored by the Municipality of Taranto, Puglia Region (Department of Culture, Protection and Development of Cultural Enterprises, Tourism , Development and Tourist Company) and University of Bari "Aldo Moro" and in collaboration with local and national institutions, the associations Amica Sofia of Perugia, F @ MU (Families at the Museum), Committee for the Quality of Life, Friends of Taranto Museums, Tarenti Cives, #Ante Litteram, Taranto Group, FAI Delegation of Taranto, Ella and AMACI in the context of the eighteenth Contemporary Day.

The exhibition represents the first retrospective in Italy ten years after the death of the Milanese painter and brings together a significant selection of the works of the 60s-70s, in the wake of the research carried out alongside and beyond the Cenobio and Nucleare groups. Ettore Sordini , animator and protagonist in post-war artistic Milan, met and frequented Lucio Fontana, of whom he became a friend and disciple. At his invitation, he participates in the 1954 Milan Triennale. In 1956 he joins the Nuclear Movement and with his friends Piero Manzoni and Angelo Verga he undertakes a series of theoretical elaborations, which will converge, in the form of invectives and programmatic declarations, in numerous posters , including “For the discovery of an area of images” (1956) and “Against style” (1957).

His research grows and defines his interest in “the sign”, a sign which he himself defines as “measured and thrifty”, almost impalpable. Towards the end of the 1950s, Sordini carries out a deepening of the relationship between sign-gesture and nature, the works thus acquire a greater lyrical spatiality, accompanied by a soft and delicate chromatism.

For the occasion, a publication was produced for the CRAC Puglia editions containing introductory texts by Fabiano Marti, Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Taranto, Giovanna Tagliaferro, director of the Rocco Spani Onlus Foundation; critical texts by Roberto Lacarbonara and Alberto Mazzacchera, curators of the exhibition, iconographic apparatus and bio-bibliographic notes of the master.

During the period of the exhibition, in addition to guided tours, "Experience Meetings" will be held and educational workshops will be held with local schools. The exhibition will remain open until November 30th.
