The CRAC Puglia - Contemporary Art Research Center of the Rocco Spani Onlus Foundation of Taranto, inaugurates the personal exhibition of DANIEL SPOERRI on Saturday 26 June, at 19:00. The vision of things, created in collaboration with the Vittorio Caporrella Art Foundation in Rome and the Museum-FRaC Baronissi (SA), curated by the historian and art critic Massimo Bignardi.
The exhibition enjoys the patronage of the Department of Historical Sciences and Cultural Heritage of the University of Siena; of the Foundation "HIC TERMINUS HAERET-THE GARDEN OF DANIEL SPOERRI", of Seggiano, The exhibition offers significant works by the artist, sculptures, including Santo Grappa, a bronze from 1970, the first made in the Caporrella Foundry, Tin Tin, the elephant, Eterno Lunch, three exceptional tableaux-pièges from the “Post Sevillane” series from 1992, together with graphic works.
These works that Alain Jouffroy had called 'tableaux-pièges' (pictures-traps), still today testify to a practice in which, Arturo Schwarz observed, it is chance that is trapped: in fact, it is the accidental placing of objects on the table, preserving what remains of the rituality of a breakfast, a dinner, a convivial moment. That is to say, of a sharing of gestures, of looks, of a happening, in which the artist participates. It is a condition that he fixes in the instant of perception, that is, he traps, and then overturns the perspective of the vision and places it on the vertical plane of the wall. In Les deux chiens, Health Bordellpuzzle! and in Cou de Poissons, all works from 1992 present in the exhibition, the apparent order of the arrangement of the crockery, cutlery and other elements that clutter the table, must not be misleading, thinking that there was a sort of register of disorder that the artist reiterates ".
