The documentary photography awards, which have been awarded by the Wüstenrot Foundation in cooperation with the Museum Folkwang in Essen since 1994, are the most important funding program in the field of artistic documentary photography. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the program, THE GÄLLERY is presenting a representative overview of three decades of documentary photography in Germany for the first time. The focus is not only on the changes in the most diverse living environments, but above all on the artistic strategies of the documentary, which react to social and media change. The exhibition traces the development of documentary concepts since the early 1990s using outstanding works by the award winners.
