The Southend Museum is a museum in the city of Southend on Sea and was built in 1905-6. It originally housed the Southend Library. The building in which it is located was commissioned and financed by the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, an American of Scottish descent who found his fortune in England and got rich in the steel industry. The museum has The Princely Burial exhibit on permanent display which displays archaeological artifacts with artifacts found several years ago in 2003 by archaeologists from the Museum of London Archeology (MOLA) who excavated a small piece of land in Prittlewell, Southend, Essex. Centuries earlier, in the 1920s, Roman and Anglo-Saxon burials had already been discovered on that same site. It started from those excavations to cover what remains had survived.
