The Richard - Ginori Museum

The Richard - Ginori Museum of the Doccia manufactory is located in Sesto Fiorentino, in the Florentine province. The Museum includes the rich selection of works by the Ginori Manufacture in Doccia, then Richard - Ginori. The Museum was founded in 1754 to exhibit the ceramics and models made by the industry. Only in 1950 was a special museum built, inaugurated in 1965, where today all the objects donated by the Ginori and Richard Manufacture are kept. The collection includes objects in majolica, porcelain and earthenware made between 1737 and 1895. The pieces are of remarkable quality and highlight the mastery of the Florentine tradition. Outstanding among all are the decorated pottery, the porcelain fireplace with copies of Michelangelo's statues, the copies of classical statues by Gaspero Bruschi, the casts of the works of Giovan Battista Foggini and Massimiliano Soldati Benzi. Finally, the refined ceramics conceived and designed by Giò Ponti. A section of the museum is dedicated to the ceramics produced by the other nineteenth and twentieth century factories in the Tuscan territory. Among all the Manifattura delle Palme di Pisa stands out. The Museum offers an educational section for children, a library, an archive and a photo library that allow you to reconstruct the complete history of the manufacture.
