The Rugby Art Gallery and Museum, opened in 2000, is an art gallery and museum in the city of Rugby. The purpose-built building that houses it is shared with the Rugby Library; it opened in 2000 and was built in place of the former Rugby library. The art gallery houses "The Rugby Collection", put together in the mid-1940s by Rugby Borough Council and which has over 170 objects of British art dating back to the 20th century and contemporary art: prints, drawings and paintings by artists such as LS Lowry, Stanley Spencer, Paula Rego and Graham Sutherland. In addition to the art collection, the museum houses a collection of Roman artifacts found in the nearby Roman city of Tripontium. The museum also features an exhibition of Rugby's social and industrial history, and the "Redding Collection" of approximately 25,000 mid-20th century photographic negatives taken in George Redding's Rugby photography studio.
