The World Press Photo 2024 exhibition features the best and most important documentary and photojournalism photographs from around the world, selected by an independent jury. For its 67th edition, the competition saw the participation of 3,851 photographers from 130 countries with 61,062 photographs and open format contributions.
The exhibition invites viewers to see the news through different eyes and to think critically about important issues in our world. We believe that accurate, diverse, high-quality visual stories are useful for dialogue between different cultures, for understanding the world.
The World Press Photo Foundation is a global platform that connects documentary photographers, photojournalists and global audiences through trustworthy storytelling. World Press Photo was founded in 1955 when a group of Dutch photographers organized a competition ("World Press Photo") to expose their work to an international audience. Since then, the World Press Photo competition has grown to become one of the most prestigious competitions in the world, rewarding the best in photojournalism and documentary photography from around the world. Through a successful exhibition program, the World Press Photo Foundation brings the stories that matter to millions of people.
