Romance was born from the invitation addressed by the Memmo Foundation to Latifa Echakhch , for the realization of an unprecedented project starting from the suggestions deriving from her encounter with the landscape, the atmosphere, the history and the socio-cultural events of Rome.
The exhibition originates from a process of gradual rapprochement that has led the artist to discover, internalize and translate the stimuli collected during his visits.
The title of the exhibition, Romance , summarizes the spirit of Latifa Echakhch's intervention aimed at representing the architectural, cultural and geological stratification of the city, in which different historical periods intertwine and multiple languages and expressive registers are mixed. The artist is interested in expressing this feeling of transport, investigation and surprise through an installation created in the spaces of the Memmo Foundation (the ancient stables of Palazzo Ruspoli): an immersive, unprecedented work that recalls - both conceptually and for the construction technique - the architectural "whims" in cement material that adorn the gardens of the late nineteenth century.
