The show

Operativa is thrilled to present Bea Bonafini 's first solo exhibition in Rome, Twin Waves ≈ Onde Gemelle , a new body of work that weaves engraved cork, tapestry, drawing, ceramic and sound. The show introduces a fragmented cosmos of fluid metamorphosis, where human and non-human borders merge, multiply and collide .

Bonafini is an Italian artist who lives between Rome and London . His practice is informed by continuous experimentation with materials and processes, often taking shape through mixed techniques and references. His work ranges from sculpture to installations, combining historical iconography with modern pictorial traditions in a sensual yet intimate immediacy.

The works exhibited were conceived in Rome on the occasion of the Abbey Scholar residency scholarship at the British School (BSR).

Bea Bonafini was born in 1990 in Bonn, Germany. Bonafini is a graduate of the Royal College of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art in London and has exhibited in several exhibitions. Recently she was a resident artist at the British School at Rome (BSR), Rome (2019) and at Platform Southwark Studio Residency, London (2019), Fibra Residency, Colombia (2019), Fieldworks Studio Residency, London (2017) and The Beekepers Residency, Portugal (2015). Among his latest solo shows: Chloe Salgado, Paris (2019), Bosse & Baum, London (2019), Lychee One Gallery, London (2018), Zabludowicz Collection, London (2017).
