Marco Tirelli (Rome, 1956), among the main protagonists of the renewal of painting initiated in Italy and abroad at the end of the seventies, presents a new exhibition-installation of great visual impact, capable of testifying to the most advanced state of his research.
The initiative renews the invitation to an important Italian artist to create a new project for rooms 9, 10, 11, and 12 of Palazzo Esposizioni.
For this occasion, Tirelli has conceived a nucleus of works that takes shape as a single large installation, a pictorial and mental cycle in which each work, despite its autonomy, fits into an organic and continuous plot, like an ideal ribbon that runs through the exhibition space. The rooms thus become a "theater of memory," where the artist constructs a cosmogonic representation of his work, a visual atlas that embraces and recomposes his entire poetic universe. In this collection, visual memories intertwine, fragments of cinema, literature, art history, and shadows of inner visions, giving life to an archive that is both personal and universal.
The exhibition consists of an organic set of forty-two paintings, created with an original method devised by the artist, which involves a long execution process and the use of different techniques.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalog, published by Electa, designed as a true artist's book with large plates of all the exhibited works, images of their entirety in the rooms of Palazzo Esposizioni, and texts by the curator, writer Marco Lodoli, and art historian Victor I. Stoichita.
