The show

The National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art celebrates two protagonists of the Roman art scene , two women linked to the life of the historic Arco d'Alibert gallery.

In the spaces of the Aldrovandi Room, Francesca Gallo and Ilaria Bernardi curate two distinct but complementary exhibitions, dedicated to the Roman gallery owners Mara Coccia and Daniela Ferraria.

Their archives are now part of the historical fonds of the National Gallery, and the two exhibitions originate from this heritage: documents, photographs and works by the artists linked to the activities of the two gallery owners, reconstruct their stories and allow us to deepen aspects of art in Rome from the 1960s to more recent times.

To pay homage to the legacy of Mara Coccia 's Archive and Library at the Galleria Nazionale, the first exhibition dedicated to the gallery owner will be inaugurated on 18 June (Rome, 1925-2014) whose professional history, four decades long, set in in the Trident area and marked by over two hundred exhibitions in six locations. Between intuitions, lucky encounters, personal events and long partnerships, drawing and small format are the strategic choices that, alongside painting, support the most experimental projects: the artist's book and sculpture.
