From 23 April to 30 June 2024
From 23 April 2024 Castel Sant'Angelo hosts the first major exhibition dedicated to Luigi Spina 's photographic project, Interno Pompeiano .
The campaign, which allowed the photographer to investigate the interiors of over one hundred and twenty domus in Pompeii, was born during the closure to the public of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii , then directed by Professor Massimo Osanna, due to the pandemic.
The corpus of over 1,450 shots gave life primarily to the editorial project Interno Pompeiano by 5 Continents Editions , a book of almost 300 large format color photographs, with essays, as well as by Spina himself, by Massimo Osanna, Gabriel Zuchtriegel, Carlo Rescigno and Giuseppe Scarpati.
This is where the exhibition Interno Pompeiano was born (until 16 June 2024), created by the Directorate of State Museums of Rome - led by the General Director Massimo Osanna - in collaboration with the General Directorate of Museums and the Archaeological Park of Pompeii .
Through 60 large format color photographs , printed on fine art paper, the exhibition tells the unique condition that allowed Spina to "inhabit" Pompeii and "live" in his homes, thus being able to follow the shaping of natural light in the arch of the days, and capture the nuances in the multiple environments of his shots.
