From 15 October to 23 May 2021
The French Academy in Rome - Villa Medici is happy to present the exhibition I Peccati di Johan Creten .
Precursor, unclassifiable and counter-current , Johan Creten is a sculptor artist who has distinguished himself as a strong, enigmatic and intriguing figure in the artistic landscape of recent years.
Endowed with an extremely current vision of our society, he has been able to carve out a singular space within the international scene of contemporary creation.
For this exhibition, a set of fifty five works in bronze, ceramic and resin has been assembled, juxtaposed with some historical works by Luca Van Leyden (1494-1533). Hans Baldung (1484-1545), Jacques Callot (1592-1635) and Barthel Beham (1502-1540).
The exhibition offers an exploration of the world with all its individual and corporate torments, through a path full of surprises and emotion.
For the first time, Johan Creten's work is presented in Italy in such a broad way.
Viale Trinità dei Monti, 1, Rome, Italy
