closed LET'S MAKE PEACE?!

The show

The war in Ukraine brought the theme of peace back to the center of the international debate and revealed more clearly how open conflicts are raging in many areas of the world, near and far. The exhibition “Let's make peace?! – The voice of children on war” intends to express those who usually have no voice. The exhibition itinerary aims to help see war through the eyes of children, to understand its difficulties and suffering, listening to those who are the first and most innocent victims.

It is the children and young people who are currently experiencing the war or who have just fled from it who are speaking. The children of Kiev, of Irpin, of Kharkiv in Ukraine speak, as well as the Afghan minors who arrived with the airlift from Kabul in August 2021. The Congolese children who fled to the recently visited refugee camps of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo also speak by Pope Francis; many little Africans who fled the conflicts in Burkina Faso and Northern Mozambique speak with them. Syrian children also speak - victims of a war that seems to have no end - who find themselves in refugee camps in Greece or Lebanon where they are waiting to be welcomed in Europe. These children attend the "Schools of Peace" promoted by the Community of Sant'Egidio all over the world, in European and African cities, as well as in refugee camps. Completely free centers run by young volunteers from the Community, the Schools of Peace are aimed at the youngest to support them in their schooling and to propose an educational model of solidarity, capable of overcoming barriers, discrimination and rejecting violence. they live in peace: they have met elderly people who have known war as children or have read the diaries of children and young people who lived through the Second World War. They are voices and images that make up the mosaic of the horror of war.

The various sections of the exhibition - "the war of the past", "the war today", "the war behind", "how to make peace" do not intend only to expose the works and considerations of children and young people to the eyes of visitors, but they also want to involve in that same emotional journey and reflection. In this sense, the exhibition is open to everyone but is designed for a young audience and above all for children and teenagers, who will have laboratory and reading spaces at their disposal.
