From 22 November to 16 February 2024
From 22 November 2023 to 16 February 2024 the Carolina Lombardi exhibition opens to the public. Embroidering chaos, curated by Maria Giuseppina Di Monte and Gabriele Simongini, in the spaces of the Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum belonging to the State Museums Directorate of the city of Rome, directed by Massimo Osanna.
The exhibition itinerary winds through the rooms on the two floors of the Museum through around twenty LED backlit Plexiglass light works in which the luminous thread that makes up the images creates textures and laces woven with light and is made up of a text written by which selectively filters the light, generating reticular shapes that recall natural structures, coral reefs, neural networks, sarcoplasmic reticulums as well as the great cosmic spider web. The meaning of the texts loses importance, transforming into "nonsense" while the visual suggestion brings us back to natural structures. Networks and plots guide the viewer towards the theory of complexity and chaos: hence the title of the exhibition Embroidering chaos.
In addition to the light works, some of which are large in size, the video installation "Physarum Polycephalum" will be presented to the public, which captures the growth and expansion of a particular unicellular organism, the Physarum Polycephalum. It does not have a brain or a nervous system but is able to perform computational calculations, make decisions, retain memory of its actions and exit a labyrinth by the shortest route.
