From 18 May to 16 October 2020
The best way to start: on Mondays and May 18 on International Museum Day , with a new exhibition in the Central Hall , with the new space in the Sala delle Colonne and the Staircase and with the work in progress, a construction site for the definition of new spaces for the community.
The best day began a few weeks ago, when everything slowly began to move because a horizon was outlined. Unity time of excess, released from its hinges to enter the indistinct, had returned to flow and run. And in the last few days we have even felt the breath on our necks and the adrenaline of the countdown. We open to return the National Gallery to the public, with the provisional procedures provided for by the situation in which we are - and we are not, we are all other - and now that at the time we can reunite space and movement we will demonstrate it first of all to ourselves. Let's get back on track. We shorten the distances, we keep those that have always characterized our stay at the museum and in front of a work, after all we have always and only touched it with our eyes, yet with what transport, with what emotion. We keep the physical distance and leave the social distance behind. Let's reconcile with the places and we'll be at home everywhere. And perhaps yes "the world has changed, in fact it is no longer to be conquered, but to be inhabited".
