On Wednesday 27 October, the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art is pleased to present Franco Rella's book entitled L'arte e il tempo, for the Jaca Book editions. An interesting conversation in which Cristiana Collu, Director of the National Gallery, Maurizio Gargano, Professor of Architecture at the Roma Tre University, and Michele Trionfera, Translator and Director of the Aleph bookshop at the National Gallery will intervene. The book deals with the problematic and paradoxical relationship of art with time. The work of art seems immune to the passage of time, eternal and always equal to itself, but it is also full of time, its own and what it sets in motion in relating with other works, with other eras, with other sensitivities. The place where this plurality of times intertwine and intersect is the museum, but also the streets of modern metropolitan cities populated by images, as Proust, Valéry and Surrealism had already seen, and as we see today in Street Art, or in work of Kentridge. The book proposes a journey through the art of the Modern, in its tensions and its revelations, with its images and manifestations, which allow us - or force us - to look at the heart of the problems that sink into our time and into our consciousness. .
