The show

The Pattern Room of the Maramotti Collection hosts Two Thoughts , a solo exhibition by Svenja Deininger which brings together a cycle of new pictorial works conceived specifically for this project and in dialogue with four paintings from the 1920s by the Polish avant-garde Władysław Strzemiński, on loan from Muzeum Sztuki of Łódź.

Starting from a 2018 painting acquired by the Maramotti Collection and taking a cue from Strzemiński's research and his Architectural Compositions made almost a century ago, Deininger worked on numerous works at the same time to arrive at the final selection of the paintings, the "phrase" they compose on the walls of the hall.

In fact, Deininger conceives his works within an uninterrupted process : each painting, on which he works even for a long time, is not a finished entity, but a piece of the creative discourse that leads the artist to visualize its placement in a context spatial defined. Similar to the generation of lexical units and the simultaneous elaboration of their syntax, Deininger's creative process takes shape through successive and patient passages on the surface of each single work and develops in the relationships between the different paintings.
