The Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato presents from Saturday, May 31 to Sunday, November 2, 2025, “Davide Stucchi. Light Lights”, the first solo exhibition of Davide Stucchi (Vimercate, 1988) in an Italian institution.

The exhibition, curated by Stefano Collicelli Cagol, director of Centro Pecci, features sculptures created by the artist between 2019 and 2025, all inspired by the theme of light, some of which were produced for the exhibition at Centro Pecci. The wordplay of the title, translatable as ‘Light Lights’, exploits the ambiguity of the English term “light” to emphasize the subtle wit with which Stucchi approaches artistic activity. With the intangible lightness of light, the artist almost seems to challenge the solemn gravity often associated with contemporary art. The title also reflects the artist's tendency to proceed by subtractions, with interventions often on the verge of imperceptibility, but deeply rooted in the context in which they are placed.

By intervening on a heterogeneous and playful group of lamps, lights, and wall lights, the artist transforms the perception of the exhibition space and the body of those who visit the show, evoking presences that are very present or bodies and stories that have just left their place. The exhibition “Light Lights” constructs an immersive environment that gradually reveals itself, in an experience of crossing that suggests a choreography of gestures, looks, and movements, useful for reflecting on the transience of encounters and moments – bright or shrouded in darkness – that each person experiences in their own life when coming into contact with others. Imagined stories, daydreamed, subverted by Stucchi's biting irony and his ability to bring out the most absurd and less visible aspects of everyday life. Through a refined and self-ironic do-it-yourself approach, tinged with a subtle fetishism for minutiae and hardware, Stucchi produces sculptures that refer to the precariousness of private stories, questioning and deconstructing gender narratives and established social representations.
