The Naturkundemuseum is a science and natural history museum in Potsdam. It is located in the former “Ständehaus der Zauche”, a historic building in the center of Potsdam built in 1770 to a design by Georg Christian Unger, badly damaged during the Second World War. The museum's collection offers insights into the biodiversity of insects, fish, birds, and mammals in the state of Brandenburg, while temporary exhibitions also deal with supraregional topics. The main focus of the museum, however, is on Brandenburg's fish fauna. The museum's cold-water aquarium is home to around 40 native fish species: from roach to river catfish.
