The National Archaeological Museum of Pontecagnano is located in Faiano, in the province of Salerno. The Museum was recently inaugurated in the new and current specially designed location. Inside it houses the finds from the Villanovan and Etruscan-Campanian center of Pontecagnano. The finds from over 9000 burials excavated in the necropolis of Pontecagnano in the last fifty years are part of the heritage. The visit is in a chronological sense with sections dedicated from the Eneolithic period to the Roman Age. The exhibits on display try to tell the history of the city starting from its urban development, the handicrafts, the necropolises and the sanctuaries. The most important exhibition section concerns the Orientalizing period with some “princely” burials and funerary items. A very curious and interesting find is an urn in the shape of a hut or house, found in tomb 2500 and dating back to the IX - VII century BC.
