The Georges Vallet Archaeological Museum is located in the historic Vialla Fondi de Sangro of Piano di Sorrento, in the heart of the Sorrento Peninsula. The Villa is a nineteenth-century structure in neoclassical style with a beautiful outdoor garden. After the restoration it was possible to place the Archaeological Museum inside. Even today you can admire the frescoes on the ceilings dating back to the eighteenth century. The Museum is responsible for enhancing the territorial history of the Coast: its population and its transformation from the Roman age to today. The collection is made up of artifacts, finds and grave goods from the archaeological excavations and necropolises of the cities of Massa Lubrense and Vico Equense. In the main rooms there are casts with inscriptions dating back to the 2nd century BC, Hellenistic and Roman sculptures, marble reliefs and capitals dating back to the Villa di Capo di Massa and glass and terracotta artifacts. In addition, there is an interesting model that perfectly reconstructs the Villa di Pollio Felice in Capo di Sorrento. Also in the same room is the vitreous paste mosaic with still lifes, ornaments, allegorical figures and birds found inside the Villa di Pollio Felice.
