From 13 September to 9 November 2025
A wide selection of vintage toys ranging from the late 19th century to the post-war period will tell the story of toy production in Italy, a niche but high-level sector that, following the example of the most famous and established European markets, introduced for the first time in our country the idea of an industrial-scale production of objects designed to entertain children, made with supreme craftsmanship and quality materials, a challenging path in an economy, that of early 20th century Italy, still lagging behind.
The exhibited objects will deeply move the public, surprising the new generations and stirring distant childhood memories in adults: dolls, toy cars, an endless variety of transportation means, carousels, magic lanterns, and many other objects, sometimes equipped with spring mechanisms and movements, are made of tin, wood, and ceramics, the result of deep craftsmanship and undeniable creativity that in the late 20th century had to give way to new Asian markets and cheaper synthetic materials.
