The Parc zoologique de Paris, also known as Zoo de Vincennes, is a zoological park located inside the Wood of Vincennes, a public park east of Paris, not far from the castle of the same name. It is part of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. It covers 14.5 hectares in which the natural environment of over 180 different species has been recreated, with great and full respect for the fauna and flora, for a total of about 1000 animals. The aims of this renewed structure, in addition to the didactic and scientific ones, are the protection and conservation of some animal species that must be protected. The aim is to offer the visitor an area where animals can be observed within a bio-environment that reproduces the ecosystem of origin, in full respect of the animal and in conditions favorable to scientific research. For this reason, there are no cages inside the Paris Zoological Park. All the animals housed in this zoo were born in captivity and some of them belong to endangered species that the Zoological Park and the National Museum of Natural History want to save and bring back to their original environment. The natural route includes sixteen natural habitats and five bio-zones. The park is characterized by the presence of a large artificial rock 65 meters high, visible even from a great distance, called the Grand Rocher.
