The Musée Picasso is a Paris museum located in the Le Marais district. The seat of the museum is the Hôtel Salé, a 17th century noble palace; before welcoming the Picasso Museum, it was used as an Embassy of the Republic of Venice and as a Central School of Arts and Crafts. The Picasso Museum houses a rich collection of works by Pablo Picasso: there are paintings, sculptures, drawings and manuscripts, but also sketches, studies, drafts, photographs, illustrated books and films, thanks to which it is also possible to follow the creative process of 'artist. The collection is further enriched by the artist's personal collection, which includes works by Cézanne, Degas, Seurat, De Chirico and Matisse. With a collection of more than 5000 works, the museum is now able to present a complete overview of Picasso's artistic history. Among the main works we find "Two women running on the beach", "Paulo dressed as a Harlequin" and "Sitting woman". The Museum was inaugurated in 1985 and the museum space is very large: on the second floor there is a special area available for temporary exhibitions, while the third floor contains the library, the documentation sector, the archives (it is closed to the public but available for any research), the curators' offices.
