The Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris is a museum located in the very center of Paris, along the Rue de Rivoli, in the western wing of the Louvre Palace, between the Jardins des Tuileries and the Place du Palais Royal, in the 1st arrondissement . It is a museum of decorative arts and drawing, with a collection made up of more than 6,000 decorative objects of all kinds. Among the main objects we find furniture, plates, crockery, jewelry, games or carpets, but also tapestries, wallpapers, ceramics and glass objects. There are also the period rooms, as part of the house of the designer Jeanne Lanvin, or the dining room of the graphic designer Eugène Grasset. The Paris Museum of Decorative Arts was founded in 1905 by members of the Union des Arts Décoratifs, a private body led by the architect Gaston Redon. The intent was to found a museum that would enhance and recognize the importance of decorative arts, reconciling beauty and artistic expression with the useful and the everyday. From a chronological point of view, the museum covers the works from the Middle Ages to the contemporary days. The museum is also home to numerous exhibitions.
