La Maison de Victor Hugo is a literary museum located in the famous Place des Vosges, in the heart of the Marais district, in the 4th arrondissement of Paris. The house museum is located in the elegant Rohan-Guéménée palace: the famous French novelist Victor Hugo rented the apartment on the second floor, living there for 16 years, from 1832 to 1848. It was here that Victor Hugo composed some of his greatest literary masterpieces, such as the play "Ruy Blas" and the collection of poems "Les Voix intérieures". In 1873 the building was donated to the city of Paris and the apartment was transformed into a museum in 1903. The visit of the house, of a width of 280 square meters, allows you to retrace the three main phases of the writer's life, before, during and after the exile, through the exhibition of furniture and relics that belonged to him, as well as portraits and drawings made by himself. The museum also organizes temporary exhibitions.
