Villa Stenersen, located at Tuengen allé 10C in the Vinderen district of Oslo, is considered one of the masterpieces of Norwegian modernist architecture. Designed between 1937 and 1939 by Arne Korsmo for the financier and art collector Rolf E. Stenersen, the villa is the only Norwegian example included in the international network Iconic Houses.
Villa Stenersen stands out for its white concrete and glass facade, flat roof, pure geometric lines, and functional architectural solutions, such as the use of colored glass bricks in the staircase that doubles as an art gallery. The main floor was designed to house Rolf Stenersen's private collection, providing an ideal setting to display works by Munch, Picasso, and Kandinsky, thanks to the filtered light from the ceiling of over 600 colored glass cylinders.
Donated to the Norwegian State in 1974 - with the intention of being used as the Prime Minister's residence - it was briefly used by Odvar Nordli. Since 2014, it has been managed by the Nasjonalmuseet, which oversees its restoration, visits, and cultural events.
