The Nivola Museum is pleased to present the exhibition Notes for an unfinished park, the latest project by Alterazioni Video.

Since 2006, the Alterazioni Video collective has been working on Incompiuto, a project focused, in its first phase, on the mapping and geolocation of 696 unfinished works scattered on Italian soil, architectural structures that were begun and never completed, subsidized with public funds.

Incompiuto now enters the second phase, which involves a series of changes in the intended use of the architectures. Left structurally unchanged as monuments of the present, these should become multifunctional places for citizens to gather for cultural and outdoor sports activities, such as parks, gardens, auditoriums, theaters.

The Palasport di Nuoro, a spectacular ruin lost in the countryside, beyond the last urban spurs, is the protagonist of the exhibition at the Nivola Museum. Started at the end of the 1990s, contracted out in 2012, the project was definitively closed in 2017: what remains of it is a forest of reinforced concrete pylons, a mammoth entrance door, an arid esplanade surrounded by piles of debris and spontaneous vegetation.

Alterazioni Video proposes to reverse the failure positively, transforming the abandoned construction site into a park. He invites us to “kiss the toad”, to reclaim the ungainly and neglected ruin by accepting and using it.

The collective celebrates the unfinished in a film - the center of the intervention at the Nivola Museum - which develops on two parallel narrative levels: that of the encounter between the characters within the sometimes surreal and magical cinematic fiction, in which time seems to have stopped, and that of filming on the set theater of these meetings, which brings us back to a reality and a present in the making.
