The Duca di Martina Museum was founded in 1931 and houses an important collection of decorative arts . The collection includes more than six thousand works of western and eastern manufacture from 1100 to 1800. The collection consists mostly of ceramics that were part of the heritage of the Duke of Martina Placido de Sangro.

The collection of the Duca di Martina Museum was purchased during the nineteenth century during the duke's travels to Paris, London and Naples.

The Museum is considered one of the most important in all of Italy for its richness and historical importance . The Duca di Martina Museum collects paintings, corals and bronzes, ivories, Renaissance and Baroque majolica, furniture and decorative objects on three floors.

Among the European porcelains there are the most important nuclei of the eighteenth-century manufactories: Meissen, Doccia, Naples and Capodimonte, French, German and English porcelain. The wing dedicated to Japanese Kakiemon and Imari and Chinese Ming and Qing porcelain has also recently been refurbished. In 2016, restoration and reorganization works were carried out for the recovery of new environments to expand the exhibition.
