The Museo del Corallo Ascione is located in one of the most beautiful and prestigious places in Naples. Situated on the second floor of the main facade of Galleria Umberto I, due to its size, it occupies a large part of the facade itself. This allows for an exceptional view of some of the most exclusive and historically rich places in the city. The Ascione company is the oldest manufacturing company in Torre del Greco in the delicate and prestigious sector of artistic coral processing, cameos, mother-of-pearl, semi-precious stones, and precious metals. In 1855, Giovanni Ascione, son of the coralline shipowner Domenico, decided to dedicate himself to coral manufacturing, an activity imported to Torre del Greco in the early 19th century. Giovanni and his ten sons managed to make the Ascione brand known for the refinement of their production, earning numerous international awards and becoming suppliers to the royal family, which granted them the privilege of adorning the brand with the emblems of the House of Savoy.

The Museo del Corallo Ascione retraces the history of the company through the exhibition of original documents and the most significant creations from the nineteenth century to the modern and contemporary era. The museum space is divided into two sections: in the first, of an educational nature, there are coral branches of various origins and types, ancient fishing systems, ancient tools for processing, numerous necklaces in various cuts and styles, and the markets to which they were and are intended.

A space is also dedicated to the cameo processing: shells, tools, processing phases, finished objects give the visitor a complete and exhaustive picture of this very particular art.

The second section is dedicated to jewelry: more than 300 coral objects, cameos, lava stone, testimonies of a rare and refined production ranging from the early 19th century to the 1940s of the last century are on display. The path is accompanied by a rich collection of paper and photographic documentation illustrating the company's activity and its numerous awards for the quality and originality of its jewelry.
