From 5 June to 30 June 2019
What would happen if the young Marcus Aurelius discovered Escher or if the face of an ancient unknown assumed the features of Oscar Wilde ?
The photographer Gianluigi Gargiulo will tell about this (and much more), who next Wednesday (4 pm), will inaugurate the solo show "Timeless" in the Sala del Toro Farnese at MANN, scheduled until June 30: thirty-two pairs of portraits that will I compare a bust from the Farnese collection and its ironic reworking, capable of intercepting motifs (and myths) of modernity.
Known artist in the Neapolitan milieu, Gargiulo likes to define himself as "creator of images", as well as "engineer lent to photography and vice versa": his creative path has recently been enriched thanks to the tools offered by new technologies.
It is the new technologies, in fact, that have allowed Gargiulo to personalize his portraits, establishing a link between past and present in a game that turns out to be “timeless”.
